Inspiration for Musicians

Songwriters, musicians, artists, entrepreneurs all have relationships with their muse in one way or another… Inspiration for musicians is an elemental component of what we do. In using inspiration and motivation to spring us into action we can get ourselves to follow through and actually complete all of our projects.

As a singer songwriter producer and an entrepreneur, i’ve learned that both inspiration and disciplined follow through are at the heart of what its all about.

Its getting things done – that get results. Getting results = knowledge and experience = better results.

Getting things done is about staying motivated, or even better, inspired.

Inspiration and motivation will help result in whats ultimately most important… Follow through.

Planning and Prioritizing Projects

Planning and Prioritizing Projects in the Modern Project Studio.

Artist development for the modern musician requires new skills. Some of these fundamental skills can easily go unnoticed, and their importance unbeknown to the individual. The skills of planning and prioritizing are VITAL, now, more than ever. This is the new music business. All the information ever recorded in history is pretty much available, all the tools are out there, those ideas that you have every single day… They’re not going to stop. BUT THATS GOOD! It does however mean that we have to consciously choose what we allow ourselves to focus on. Therefore knowing what matters leads us into how to get there… Which leads us into developing a plan and prioritizing the pieces.

Using Creativity To Create and Package Your Content

Using Creativity to Create and Package Your Content : Using Knowledge and creativity as an element to accelerate, enhance, and create better, more valuable content.

I know… It’s a wayward thought, but perhaps a bullet point slideshow is not actually the most effective format to present the material?

Reading a script on a screen capture video may not be doing you or the content justice either… Let alone, and MORE importantly teaching the LEARNER what THEY need, in the ideal way.

And no i’m not talking about technology platforms or neat buzzwords which tout fancy brands of flashy dressed up concepts…

Structure For Artists

As a singer-songwriter and modern musical artist i have found the use of systems and functional structures for managing projects, (musical, entrepreneurial, or otherwise) finances, my life, my habits, to be of utmost importance.

Structure For Artists?

Yes… And i want to go a little deeper in talking about what these systems and structures require to be functionally most effective….

Quite simply… it is thought. The thinking process behind each piece must be out of solving a problem or creating a better way to automate or increase the time spent managing recurring tasks.

This sounds simple… and guess what… it is. But it requires time and focus.

YOU Are The Best New Artist

The best new artist is not easily quantified. “Best new artist” is a generic phrase for a category at the grammy awards… While this phrase is almost synonymous with the the award, who’s really to say who the best new artist is.

However, in this day and age I propose the best new artist is something  fundamentally different than the award presented at the Grammys.

The when it all comes down to it, our society has evolved into one that is instantly and globally connected. Music, and the new music business, has changed forever. This is not a discussion directly related to the status of the music industry… Rather, it is a snapshot into the future for music makers, songwriters, and musicians.

System for Capturing and Developing Ideas

As a combat vet turned singer songwriter producer, and entrepreneur in the new music business – i’ve struggled with doing what i love and developing my crafts full time… Namely, because there is just so much to do as an independent artist going the DIY route.

Defining what you need to be focused on, prioritzing the most important things, dodging distractions and staying motivated, while staying sane, and on top of everything that needs to be managed to keep myself growing, afloat financially, as well as mentally…

SHEESH… It’s exhausting!

First the issue has to do with being responsible for so many more things than just being a writing songs and producing my ideas.
