Get Over Inner Conflict

Todays post is short and to the point because I want the unmistakeable message to resonate through your brain cells, register on your mental radar screen and rattle around that think-box of yours…

No, i’m not being redundant, i’m just making the same point three times in a row because it’s that important.

I want the singular meaning behind todays singular post to absorb your consciousness with singular clarity.

EVERYONE.

I repeat.

EVERYONE.

at one point or another, deals with “inner conflict…”

People who figure out how to turn that into a challenge, or a force that helps them, or some kind of a game that they need to beat… SUCCEED.

Do It Yourself (DIY) vs. Do It FOR Me (DIFM)

As an independent artist you’ve likely become grossly aware that there is a mindset you need to RID yourself of entirely to survive in the New Music Industry.

I’m of course talking about the DO IT FOR ME Attitude.

Now, i want to distinguish what the “Do It For Me” attitude IS, in relationship to what the “Do It Yourself” attitude is.

It is glaringly obvious that MANY MORE of us musicians need to seriously embrace the Entrepreneurial Mindset, and AT LEAST understand BASIC Business and Marketing, if not outright devote a YEAR OR MORE of your life studying and applying the principles of genius marketers and leaders…

Strategic Learning Is The Future

Strategic Learning Is The Future

I’m still confused… So let’s try to be a little more logical about this and flesh it out, because this topic is something that we should consider further.

I’m afraid, you’re afraid, we’re all afraid…

OF WHAT?

Well, change.

But WHAT has to change?

Not me, YOU!

But what does that actually entail?

Yes, it means your metamorphosis from an apathetic drone to an enchanted underworld explorer…

Or… It means the transformation from lackluster mediocrity to contributing hands and minds to the incredible and uncharted galactic reserve!

It Doesn’t MEAN what you think it means. Nothing has to change about WHO you are, you are an AMAZING person, of that i’m certain.

Focus = Independent Artist Success OR Failure…

DIY Independent Artist Success

Do you ever feel like modern society is like a million screaming kids with A.D.D. unleashed at a Chuckie Cheeses?

We’re just bouncing off the walls, interrupting each other, there’s no order, we just go and fling ourselves into the next unconsciously interesting experience…

A successful artist was just an artist who did the right things, the right way, and didn’t quit.

I’ve never met a dumb musician. Seriously.

So is it the structure, the discipline, or the determination?

Create Value and then CREATIVELY tell people about it.

What is Wrong With American Idol?

Guest Post: Bob Baker

It’s one of the most popular TV shows of recent years, drawing tens of millions of viewers every week. Even I admit, American Idol is fun to watch. The show provides all the elements of good pop culture entertainment: passion, emotion, the thrill of victory, the agony of defeat, dreams attained and lost …

So, what’s wrong with American Idol?

Considering it’s lumped into the “reality” TV category, the show is doing a great disservice to aspiring musicians (and the public at large) by distorting perceptions of how the music business really works. It sends an outdated message of “dependence” on the industry vs. the more realistic “independence” that artists have today to control their own careers.

Keep Your Mind on Your Goals

One of the hardest parts of working online AS WELL AS being a singer songwriter producer in the new music business is the management of all the moving pieces, multiple hats, and thus multiplied responsibilities…

Update your social media properties, post to your blog regularly, keep all the music hosting channels up to date, work on your crafts, work on your crafts, write the music, develop your music, record your songs, update the website…AAAAAAAAAAHHH!

One thing i’m beginning to notice and wonder if this really is a fundamental change we must embrace to be successful in this day and age. The notion is that we CANNOT sacrifice doing these things, i mean we could…
But the prize will go to the those who do, and find a way to manage, until they can systemize, workshift, and the with a new found excitement – be allowed to recharge and refocus on ONLY the things he/she NEEDS and wants to do.
