Aside from knowing and meeting the needs of an audience, and providing them value, one of the most important tools in building your online presence is the effective utilization of promo partners.
Whether you are launching a product, marketing a new article series, or trying to build your list, the power of promo partners can amplify your efforts and maximize your return on investment.
When I talk about promo partners I’m referring to a coordinated group, or list of people with a similar audience who all work with each other to drive traffic to each others pages.
Now, I want to pause for a second and clarify that a strategic promo partner, for me and anyone I’ll ever work with, must ALWAYS adhere to the principles of providing high value, relevant content to the target market. I don’t believe in, nor endorse a – i’ll scratch your back, if you scratch mine, regardless of relevance or value added to my lists.
Now, let’s look at how we can utilize the power of promo partners to build our list, which let’s face it, is one of the most valuable assets to any blogger or business owner.
So let’s say we’ve found 10 partners with small but budding lists and who serve the same market, and we’ve created a very valuable piece-or pieces of content that we are willing to offer in exchange for an opt-in, and setup our landing page to capture the email address and grant them access to the content you promised them.
By offering each other’s lists valuable content, everyone wins, and everyone builds their audience.
You can obviously see how powerful and simple this is…
Now let’s talk about how you can approach creating a list of promo partners and how to go about contacting them.
Creating a list of promo partners
Who, or which brands/organizations/companies, experts, group leaders, align with what you are promoting and serve an audience you are trying to promote to?
Define who your target audience is by writing it out, then create a list of 20 people/brands who are both accessible and meet the listed pre-requisites.
Contacting and working with promo partners
Again, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Don’t contact one person, and then give up…
Be assertive, very direct, and show them that you follow them/like their style, tell them that the more you researched them the more you found they were alligned with you message, and then quickly offer them the mutual benefits for promoting what you have to offer their list.
Expect them to be busy. Be prepared, and make it easy on them by preparing all the promo material for them so that all they have to do is copy and paste.
Write multiple emails, dozens of facebook posts and tweets, so it’s super simple and easy.
